Flying Moose

I know in the past there has been some debate on whether Moose can fly. I am here to tell you that they do. Moose can fly. I saw one. Last Tuesday as I was driving home from a day of sales calls in the valley and the sun still sets in early afternoon. It was bitter cold as the darkness set in again for another long dark night. A little earlier in the day when I was in Palmer the sign said it was -34 degrees and was confirmed by my compass/temperature gauge in my rig. It was cold and windy as I made my way from Wasilla around the Knik Arm of Cook Inlet on my way home. I was driving across the Hay Flats towards the Knik River Bridge when I first saw it. I was driving against the normal traffic flow coming home from work in Anchorage on their way to the Mat-su valley communities so there were not many vehicles driving in my direction which was west towards Anchorage . The traffic was moving along at 65 miles per hour as I followed this small gold i...

Condoms Part 2 and other nonsense

Image
Tonight we have had high winds, are expecting snow sometime overnight and the television has been giving Tsunami warnings all night for the coastal regions of Alaska. This is due to an 8.2 magnitude earthquake in the Kuril Islands off the Russian coast northeast of Japan . Tonight will be a mixture of a few things before our Christmas memories are faded . . . and this New Year is well on the way. This is Part 2 of a series I’ve wanted to do for awhile now but had not. Here is Condoms part 2: If Nike Made Condoms Ice

Tonight my brain is fried, extreme cold weather the last few days has left me without a thought on what I wanted to write about and a few other topics I’m working on are not yet finished. I’ll drop in the first part of a series I’ve wanted to do for awhile now but had not. Here is Condoms part 1 If Bounty Made Condoms Ice

Life Observation # 32

Heroes

Have you seen the new NBC show Heroes ? The show is pretty good and reminds me of the Saturday afternoon serials when I was growing up. The show’s creator Tim Kring has woven the story with multiple characters into nicely done smaller arcs within the main story. The writers spent a lot of time developing the characters and intertwine several plotlines within each episode. Some of the characters are far too stereotypical but provide a nice balance to each other. The first four episodes were advertised with the tagline "Ordinary people discovering extraordinary abilities" . I was hooked after the first show with the great writing, the changing plot twists, and the typical episode ending leaving everyone wanting more. It was easy being a Sci-Fi fan to get sucked in by Heroes storylines. At the end of the fourth episode, an event occurs that kicked off the second story arc, where the slogan "Save the cheerleader, save the world" has appeared many...

10 year Diablo anniversary

Has it been that long? I was reminded last week that it had been 10 years since I first started playing Diablo with my son. He was 12 at the time and now is 22 years old. My son has grown up and is a single dad raising a three year old daughter. He still plays games but has not played Diablo in a long time. He grew up and moved onto other games, game platforms, and continues to seek out the next generation of gaming technology. His free time now is spent playing WoW and developing a guild and forums similar to The Amazon Basin as a college project. For me, I have a few games that I occasionally play to give me a short break from my Diablo excursions, most notably Homeworld, StarCraft, and a few online poker rooms. They are there for me to see something different and remind me of what keeps me playing Diablo over so many years, When I first started playing the original Diablo the last week of December 1996 I was quickly hooked. Like most everyone I spent every waking hour while ...
