Life Observation # 31

With all of the snow here lately and the extra shoveling that has been going on I thought this observation was relevant for today’s topic. Life Observation # 31 Remember, pain is nature's way of reminding you who's in charge. Ice

Weather Happens

I was sent this e-mail that must have come from someone in Denver . We had our little weather event here in Anchorage this past week too and are still digging out. At my house there was over 20+ inches in a 24 hour period with several more during this storm. I won’t say it’s no big deal but I think the attitude here is just, ‘roll up you sleeves, put on your bunny boots, and get out there and shovel’. Weather "happens"... Up here in the “ Mile-Hi City ", we just recovered from a Historic event - some even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions." It arrived in the form of a blizzard containing up to 44" inches of snow, winds to 90 MPH and greater . . . broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities, and cut power to ten's of thousands. FYI: George Bush did not come. FEMA did nothing. No one howled for the government

Diary of Icewind’s December Snow Shoveling

What fun! We received a nice present today, over 17 inches of snow with another 8-10 inches expected overnight. I sit here sorely trying to hold my arms and fingers in a position to type and its killing me. So here goes my diary from December and my fun adventures in the far north. *December 8:* It started to snow. The first snow for December and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Van Gogh Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow! *December 9:* We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a lovelier place in the whole world? Moving to Alaska was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalks and

Random Snippet Tuesday

Today feels like a 'quick hit' sort of day. It’s snowing again tonight and I’m just in a non-blogging mood I guess. So I'll start this post now, and update it later with more saucy snippets. Or I won't; only time will tell. But here comes the first bit now: For people who are so accustomed to using their cell phones: A young man wanted to get his beautiful wife something nice for their first wedding anniversary. So he decides to buy her a cell phone. She is all excited, she loves her phone. He shows her and explains to her all the features on the phone. The next day the she goes shopping. Her phone rings and it's her husband, "Hi Hon," he says. "How do you like your new phone?" She replies, "I just love it, it's so small and your voice is clear as a bell but there's one thing I don't understand, though." "What's that, baby?" asks the husband. "How did you know I was

New Year’s Eve Toast

"May you never lie, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in each other's arms. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink with all of us because we love you." May this New Year bring you great things in Life. Ice
