Cadence of rain on a tin roof Cadence of rain on a tin roof is always a mellowing sound.  With thoughts of snow coming in the morning when I went to sleep last night it was a pleasant surprise to hear hard pounding rain on the roof. It must not have gotten colder overnight as the rain and wind both picked up and seemed to be working together with the ebb and flow hitting the roof with timpani of sounds.  For ten minutes it was a hard pounding rain then slightly letting up to a more relaxed soothing sound for a few minutes then ramping up once again with fury in its cadence. The night slowly began to fade out as light ebbed its way on to my world here in the mountains.  The birds huddled within the trees and bushes taking shelter from the pouring rain.  The squirrels took to the various bird feeders looking for an easy meal without having to worry about the birds attacking them as they try to steal food.  Everyone seemed to have their moments, a few birds hunkering down on
