Under the Tuscan Sun . . .

I came home tonight after a trying day to an unexpected surprise. I was flipping through the channels and came across a movie that has been an anthem of a friend of mine. I’m not normally a ‘chick flick’ kind of guy but as I sat there watching the beginning of the movie a funny thing happened . . .

There it was in all of the turmoil . . . bird crap! It’s a sign it was said.

I watched the movie and was reminded of a story from long ago . . .

There once was a little bird in the northland that enjoyed the warmth of the summer sun. He chirped and ate eagerly as winter was approaching as he prepared for his migration flight south.

Pretty soon, the weather turned, got colder, and eventually it started to snow. The field the little bird was standing in had a cow and a cat in it when the cow asked why he did not fly south for winter.

The little bird said he thought it was so nice where he was and decided to stay, not making the long flight to stay in the warmer weather.

The snow continued to fall getting deeper and deeper as the little bird was frozen, near death, and could not even give a faint chirp.

The cow, seeing the little frozen bird, walks over and takes a huge crap on the tiny bird covering him completely. The little frozen bird found after a few minutes that he was feeling warm again so started chirping loudly, excited that he had survived the cold.

The cat hearing the chirping sound approached and asked the little bird if he needed help getting out of the crap he was in. The bird chirps yes, thanks so much for the help. The cat proceeds to dig the bird out of the crap pile and promptly eats the little bird.

Did you think this was a story with a happy ending?

Moral of the story:

Just because someone craps on you does not mean they are your enemy.

Just because someone offers to help you out of the crap does not mean they are your friend.

And if you find yourself standing in a pile of crap, it might be best sometimes if you just keep your mouth shut.

Wishes . . . Do they come true? . . . A final tip of the hat from an old man with flowers to a long lost love . . . Under the Tuscan Sun.

I'm trying to figure out how that bird story relates to "Under The Tuscan Sun" exactly.

Being a romantic at heart, I want to believe wishes, hopes, and dreams can come true.

It would be so sad to believe otherwise.

It only related in the fact when she was crapped on by the bird reminded me of that story. It was a sign for her that it was the right thing to do buying the house so far from "home" and the security of family and friends.

Anything is possible if we believe and have the insight to see it as it unfolds before us.

But when the bird trusted - it got eaten! In the movie - she found herself and happiness.

You really BELIEVE ANYTHING is possible - that all you need is insight? I'm not so sure.
