Life Observation # 165 . . . Challenges
Life Observation # 165 . . . Challenges
Several of my friends are going through challenges right now
in their lives and it once again reminds us that life is precious so get on
with living so not to become stagnant in our daily existences.
Dale Carnegie once said: “About 90% of the things in our
life are right. Make sure you don’t
overlook the 90% that is right because you are focusing on the 10% that isn’t.”
For most people that is a true statement but sometimes we
want to focus on that 10% because that is what bothers us the most at the
time. Those challenges we face want to
beat us down in our lives and we need to make that effort to choose a different
path. It doesn’t take much to make the
day better . . . but it does take intent. Even if there are challenges, obstacles
and other craziness going on in our life, we always get to choose how we are
going to tackle the day and the type of energy that runs through our body. Is it easy, probably not but you have to show
up and make it better yourself.
There are several ways and things I do to make my Life’s
challenges easier to manage. It has not
always been that way as in my earlier time I would procrastinate or ignore some
things which built up and had to be handled anyway later so why not get off our
butt’s and dig deep to make things better.
Ways to help you get through a challenge:
Accept it . . . It is easy to get bothered or upset by the
fact that a challenge has come your way. We all probably have felt that everything
was going so well. I can’t believe this
is happening or Why me? If you haven’t
really accepted a challenge these are some of the things that may come to mind.
The first thing you want to do when you realize a challenge has come your
way is accept it for what it is. It may
be hard to embrace it but you also cannot resent it or pretend like it’s not
there. Accept the fact that you are
being challenged and starting making things better to lessen that time of
feeling this way.
Walk through . . . Realize the best way out is walking
through the challenge. It really helps if you decide from the very beginning
that you are going to face the challenge and overcome it. No hiding from it or pretending it doesn’t
exist. Start thinking about and working
through things and what’s the solution to be overcome? How is the best way through things?
Emotions . . . Get a hold on your emotions and if you need
to let your emotions boil to the surface and evaporate . . . Do it, and get it
over with so you are not overwhelmed by things and can think clearly once again.
When challenges come our way it’s highly
likely that we may have an initial negative reaction to it. No worries . . . we are human. However, the best thing about negative
reactions is that if you can recognize them . . . you can acknowledge their
presence . . . manage them by stepping back and looking at things from a
different perspective . . . and eventually they will evaporate.
Life lessons . . . All challenges bring with them Life
lessons so know there is a lesson and something beneficial for you at the end
of going through all of this. Although
it can be difficult to see the lesson or the benefit of a challenge, there
always is one. In the book “Illusions”
by Richard Bach there is a line, “There is no such thing as a problem without a
gift for you in its hands. You seek
problems because you need their gifts.”
It is so true and you just have to be willing to step back and look for
it. And, if you still don’t see it . . .
you need to just have confidence that somehow . . . someway . . . there is a
good reason for whatever is happening.
Take action . . . Once you figure out the steps to take in
any challenge you need to start putting one foot in front of the other and take
them. No one wants to experience a challenge any longer than necessary
and I truly believe in that! It is all
in how we work through things and although I get it that they may come from
time to time, there’s no reason to allow them to linger. It may start out as baby steps but once you figure
out the direction you want to go . . . you have to start taking steps to manage
through the challenges that has come your way.
Stay positive, even when things are looking pretty down, and
lift your self up into the joy and abundance that life has presented you.
