Journeyman
I am beginning to see the promos for the new television season and there are a few that might be interesting this year. I look forward to the new season of “Heroes” to see what direction it will go this year. I really enjoyed the writing and characters last year but was somewhat disappointed in the last episode of the season. It was a somewhat unexpected ending that left open possibilities . . . but I thought it could have been so much more with the different characters gathered there and with their various abilities to offer many possible directions to go . . . but we shall see what the next season will bring.
With Heroes unexpected success it is natural that what comes next is the next generation of ‘knock off’ programs. TV seems to always be based all around trends, and basically the idea of what it is working from season to season. When the TV game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” had a great deal of success we saw a plethora of game shows come to prime time television the next year. When the success of “Survivor” brought about a totally different experience to the airwaves, reality shows took the forefront of television. Survivor will continues to be strong programming and will shoot on location in
This season it looks like we will have five brand new shows that have supernatural powers among the cast members.
The one that I am intrigued in seeing is called “Journeyman”.
What is the shows premise? A man un-expectantly begins to travel into the past and changes people’s lives, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. It can open up all sorts of possibilities for storylines. During his travels he meets Livia, who he was engaged to until she died in a plane crash. Will he save her and if so, how will it change his life (in present day he’s happily married with a son)?
The shows creator Kevin Falls (of West Wing fame) said the idea came, in part, from a party he attended where the conversation turned to how many of the guests had Googled a former boyfriend or girlfriend. “It just started getting me on the road of people sometimes wondering if their life had taken a different course,” Falls said.
Many of us probably have asked those questions in our own lives . . . I guess the question could always be . . . would we make that ‘Quantum Leap’ to go back in our past to right a wrong . . . to do something differently . . . to change or ‘create’ new possibilities of where we are now or have became over our ‘normal’ lives.
It will be interesting to see what will come.
