Overheard at Starbucks

A mother and her young son were sitting out front of a Starbucks having a conversation about God. It went something like this.

"Where is God?" asked the little boy.

"All around us." Answered the mom.

"What does he do?" Asked the son.

"Answer our questions about everything." Said the mom.

"Oh."

Hey Kid! That’s not God your mother is describing, that’s Google.

God sees our prayers as status updates on Face book too.

Have a nice day!

Speaking of religion . . . it was interesting at church this morning as everyone talked about all the recent activity here in Alaska. There was also great music and our youth ministry talked about the trip 34 of our kids took over spring break to Costa Rica to help build a church and interact with the local community. Other topics . . .

Spring in Alaska . . . Its great!

The temperatures are around 30 degrees after a long cold winter so it feels like summer once again.

Mount Redoubt Volcano has been rumbling for weeks now and finally has had multiple eruptions over the last two weeks with 18 so far with more expected for an indefinite period of time. Ash fall has finally made it into Anchorage yesterday changing the ‘white’ landscape with a grey over coating much like the breakup ugliness that happens every spring. Air travel in and out of the state is in that intermittent stage right now with many flights to the bush communities on hold depending on the wind direction and also flights out to the Lower 48 also being affected. Many of the cancelled flights yesterday are rebooking now but it may be Wednesday before those from the cancelled flights make it back into Anchorage or beyond.

And finally with the warmer weather there has already been a few sighting of early riser bears around town. It still will be a couple of months before the local rivers fill with salmon and their food source so watch out everyone . . . protect your trashcans or get the ‘bear proof’ ones to keep them out of the neighborhoods.

Spring time in The Last Frontier . . . you gotta love it!

I read that Alaska was having snow today.

Did you know that a big ole advertisement comes on the top of your screen these days?

I've seen it (the ad) but have no idea why it comes up now, sorry.

Some snow the last day or so with a nice day today (30F) with more snow on tap for Friday night. I love the snow but am ready for this winter to be over. It is slowing down my construction season and slowing things down for my work crews.
