Attitude – Is what sets us Apart

The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes. ~William James

It is funny to me how sometimes people get defeated by a poor attitude. It might even be a little sad that someone lets conditions, people, and other influences take away that which is yours alone to choose.

I have experienced in my field that it takes 10 positive people to bring up the one negative person but when there is that one “sour grape” around it may only take one negative person to bring down a group of people. It can spread like a cancer within the group and may need to be ‘cut out’ to bring harmony back to the masses.

Over the weekend we passed the summer solstice where the sun reaches it’s most northern point in its orbit thereby bringing us our ‘longest’ day of the year giving Alaskans our most daylight hours crossing back to losing a few seconds at first then minutes as we go into fall and back to winter.

Barrow Alaska midnight sunset

Solstice is a much celebrated time each year as it brings with it many events, gatherings, and sometimes the eccentric people of the north. This year was no exception as there were the typical ball games, multiple celebrations on the Park Strip, and the Ship Creek Fishing Derby for the Bean’s Café Charity for the homeless in Anchorage. The weather was typical Alaska with a variety seen during different times of the day. I wanted to play golf but woke up to a slight rain. It cleared by mid afternoon so everyone seemed happy for nice weather this year.

We do not have them this time of year but here is a nice picture of the “Lights” turned on over Sitka, Alaska to our south.

Or a fall scene along the Yukon River

Another Barrow picture . . . Moonset over the Arctic Ocean

More ‘Lights’ for a cool night

And finally a midnight sunset in “bush” Alaska where patriotism is as strong as the rest of America without many modern conveniences.

I hope you enjoyed these photos and now you have regained focus and leave with a positive attitude!

Pleasant winds . . .
