Rainy Days and Sundays . . .
It was a really nice day yesterday with the sun shining and mild temperatures but as Saturday evening drew to a close the clouds rolled in and the chill slowly set in. I slept well falling asleep at 2:30 am after rolling over and over for several hours. Nothing like feeling it is cowboys on a train to wear you down to give in to that much needed rest.
This morning I woke up to a steady drizzle and had to make Gus get his feet wet to make his nature call. I had planned to go out to Big Lake today to start the winterization process of getting all of the thing in the cabin out before the freezing hits and putting away all of the toys for a long winter’s sleep. The deck needs a little more work and the outhouse will wait now until winter to burn and replace next season. Scott and I have debated whether to build a ‘real’ bathroom on to the cabin or to burn and make another outhouse. Who knows how it will end up?
The rain has continued all day with several periods of loud raindrops hitting the deck roof just outside my office window. It has a soothing cadence to it that makes one want to build a fire and just sit in a watch television, write, or just do nothing at all. Rain can do that I think as it saps your energy unless you have waders on with the white water rushing around your legs, pole in hand. That tends to give me energy as you are in the water so rain is not a big deal.
Gus, the dog, has started riding in the car over the last month or so and it is funny watching him. He is so different from Levi in how he acts and reacts to the different things going on within the time riding or waiting in the car. Have you ever noticed that if you blow in a dogs face it goes mad or nips at you, yet when you take him on a car ride he sticks his head straight out the window like he cannot get enough of the wind in his face? It’s a strange thing but true.
Sitting around all day here at the house I find myself wanting to snack or eat all day long. I did not hit Costco yesterday so I did not restock my groceries and I found myself hungry and aware that there's nothing in the fridge, why did I keep going back and opening the darn door to check if something magically appeared? Too much time on my hands today.
Looking forward the next few days it shows nothing but rain on the weather radar and cooler temperatures. That means work on the Walmart project will mean a ton of water coming off the roof drains some of which still are not connected making a lot of water going inside the building. That will be a ‘wet’ priority this week.
On tap for this evening, a couple cups of coffee, a glass of Beringer’s, the antics of Big Brother and There Goes The Neighborhood while hoping for a restful sleep.
Have a great week everyone!
