Tiger Woods . . . Grace under pressure
Elin Picked a Wedgie
I find it interesting as more information comes forward in the continuing saga of Tiger Woods. He is a very private person who for years now has developed his ‘brand’ presence while little is reported about his life off the greens.
As most of us had finished the turkey, cleaned the dishes, and settled down to enjoy the time away from work news broke about the crash of the Cadillac Escalade and the injuries to Tiger Woods.
At first things just didn’t seem right as the story broke on the east coast while many slept but here in Alaska it was still evening and the pop-ups on the internet flashed the early news of what happened . . . or did it?
‘Backing up’ out of the driveway . . . hitting the fire hydrant and then the tree . . . but why was there damage on the front of the vehicle? Perhaps a quick getaway?
Tiger unconscious in the car, a window broken with a golf club after a heated discussion and a neighbor’s call to 911, a quick trip to the hospital for stitches to several lacerations on his face and a busted lip . . .
So many questions . . . so few answers.
What I’ve been wondering for days . . . and now, we finally have an answer to the golf club mystery. A law enforcement official tells ‘TMZ’ that Tiger Woods' wife, Elin Nordegren, used a wedge to blast out the two windows on his SUV.
There are several types of wedges used while playing golf. We don't know which one Elin chose . . . but Tiger typically only carries a lob wedge and a sand wedge. For all you non-golfers, a wedge is used for short shots . . . usually around the green. It's angled with a high loft.
Golfers use wedges to get out of tight spots and unplayable lies. Oh the iron-y.
For me . . . I think Elin mad about the indiscretions during late night discussions and told Tiger that Nike branding “Just Do It” was not ok and then kicked his butt and chased him out of the house . . . golf club in hand and as Tiger heard the glass breaking of the rear window . . . startled . . . looking back hit the hydrant and then the tree. All while driving forward, not backward as reported.
The impact of the crash into two objects did not set off the air bag which concerns me for the price of that vehicle . . . a Cadillac to not work properly is almost unimaginable. Luckily Tiger was not texting one of his mistresses while driving but that would have probably been slightly difficult as Elin probably shoved his cell phone up his a** before he left the house.
As the days pass and things seem to be cooling down a bit at Tiger’s compound reports are being circulated that the family is in “intense” marriage counseling. The prenup is being rewritten and the payoff to remain “Mrs. Tiger Woods” is being negotiated. It seems the sky is the limit right now.
I remember in the movie Arthur when he was asked how it felt to have “all that money” . . . his reply . . . “It doesn’t suck.”
Elin is probably feeling the same way right about now . . . but then comes the question . . . what about the children? Is the payout worth it or the idea of going out to the links for the media circus that follows . . . we cannot answer that but I am sure time will tell.
Either way . . . it’s none of our business.
