MSNBC . . . What happened? I think the thrill is gone!

Remember back before the election during all of the campaigning and coverage of the presidential primaries how MSNBC was gushing all over Barack Obama?

Well it is interesting now a year later to see how things have changed.  Its not the same now as reality sinks in.  Did you watch Obama's TelePrompTer reading last night?  What a mess we are in and a joke of a speech.  I couldn’t watch all of it because my bullshit meter kept going off and pegging the “get out your chest waders” because we are in deep shit.  He didn't read anything that was unexpected.

Holding BP accountable.                       Yep we’ve heard that for 58 days now.

We've been on the job from day 1.      Yep typical ‘no urgency’ gov’nment job.

Clean up the Gulf Coast.                      Yep those absorbent pads worked great here in Alaska on the Exxon Valdez spill too, as we still have oil on the beaches and rocks.

Green energy.                                     I’m sure BP said it was ok to say that to help take some of the heat off them.  Let’s see how many more windmills go up and hydroelectric plants come online.

Comprehensive energy legislation, AKA crap and tax.        Spend our way out of this problem but not to the extent of really helping out the people on the Gulf coast who really need it right now.

Money’s in the bank.                           Yep it was in the bank drawing interest for over 20 years after the Exxon Valdez disaster.  The many legal maneuvers by the oil company kept it limbo until many of those in the class action suit (fishermen and community people wiped out by the spill) died or dropped out after waiting so long.  They never made it right with those hurt the most by oil.

Usually when Obama makes a speech he gets a bump in the polls. Not last night.  I guess people were pissed off at him for preempting an NCIS rerun, as I know I was.

What were really funny were Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, and Howard Fineman on MSNBC.

Olbermann: "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days."

When you've lost Olbermann . . .

Matthews compared Obama to Jimmy Carter.

Olbermann: "Nothing specific at all was said."

Matthews: "No direction."

Howard Fineman: "He wasn't specific enough."

Olbermann: "I don't think he aimed low, I don't think he aimed at all. It's startling."

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a "commander-in-chief."

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. "I'll barf if he does it one more time."

Matthews: "A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk."

Matthews: "I don't sense executive command."

I guess, for Chris, the thrill is gone.
