UAW and the Bailout of the Auto Industry

Friday saw the failure in the Senate of agreeing to bailout the auto industry’s Big 3.


The world won’t end, nor will the US auto industry disappear without this bailout to GM and Chrysler. The Democrats and the UAW would like us to believe just the opposite.


There is the rumor that Bush will fork over some of the 700 Billion for the banking industry to keep this from happening as a ‘Not on my watch’ last ditch effort. Hopefully he won’t do that either and let Free Enterprise run its course.


The raping of taxpayers has been delayed for at least 3 weeks. The Senate was very close with this ‘loan to nowhere’ for GM and Chrysler & the UAW. You know what brought down the deal? This shouldn’t surprise anyone - it was the United Auto Workers (UAW). UAW is really more concerned with lining their own pockets vs. saving a company and thus their member’s jobs.


Now I do hate to see people going into the ranks of unemployment having been through that myself but as all Life Lessons it sometimes helps to humble those back to reality.


The UAW is an arrogant and uncaring organization with a lack of ideals that helps its membership. How else could they explain that 100% of nothing for their membership forcing them into unemployment is better than making “concessions” (yes, as the leader of the UAW said recently, “that word has not been in our vocabulary” until now) that helps their industry get back to a reality of cost vs. value. To me, 70% of something is a lot better than 100% of nothing. Maybe it’s that clause in their contract that they still receive 95% of their base pay to sit around. I have heard that there are those on the ‘bench’ who had not worked in almost 10 years still drawing that 95%.


Let the unions fail due to their stubbornness and start hiring those that are already out of work who would appreciate a chance to get back to being employed. It worked for the airline industry years ago with the air traffic controllers so maybe it works again.

Are Showing Your Nipples Appropriate Work Attire?

Let me first say that personally, I have no problem with it at all. This has been kind of a weird week here in the north land with the first of many winter snowfalls’s to come and the landscape once again beautifully covered in the white stuff. It looks like the kids will have to put their Halloween costume on over a snowsuit again this year as the cold snowy stuff is here again. That is not what I wanted to write about tonight but was necessary to set up what I did want to write about. “Frosty nipples” are quite common here during most of the year and when things cool down on the cusp of winter probably more so. Work attire with tight shirts or low cut blouses that ‘make a statement’ during colder weather could be taken several ways by co-workers or visitors to your place of business.
