Alaskan Evening

I wanted to sit down and write tonight but after a crazy day at work I came home, sat out on the deck and enjoyed the start of a beautiful Alaska evening.

It was evening only by the hands on the clock as the sun was still quite high in the sky and an almost summer temperature of 60 degrees kept me hoping that this would hold during the summer months.

It was nice just to sit on the deck watch the birds hitting the feeder every few minutes along with the two squirrels who survived the winter months with my feeding peanuts to them all winter. I love to watch the animals within the neighborhood as I await the bears making their way out of a long lazy sleep. It will not be long before we see our trash cans that are not bear proof scattered all around.

I enjoyed a couple cups of coffee while I read the paper and tried to ignore Gus while he wanted me to throw his ball over and over again. People are out and about now with this nice weather walking or riding bicycles. It is like everyone was isolated all winter and now that the weather seems to have broken, breakup is almost over it is time to hit the streets or get out in the yard to clean up after another long hard winter.

I chose to just hang out and not do much of anything.

As the sun continued its slow drop towards the horizon the half moon above started to be noticed as the light levels dropped somewhat and the luminescence brightened with a few stars shining through. It is almost 11:30 pm now and it is still light towards the west with our brief night making its way across Anchorage. Gus is confused as it is light outside now about 5 am so he thinks it is time to play.

I’m working on a couple of ideas but thanks for the break tonight to just stop and enjoy this lovely place. The sights, the smells of our coming spring, and the awakening that comes with added light and warmth.

Regards,

Ice

Good for you to take care of yourself and enjoy life.

Maybe a blanket over his cage (if he has one) would help him think that it's night time.

He tends to crawl under the edge of the blanket at the foot of the bed but it does not help.
